EuroSkills webinar highlights new perspectives for skills development of young talent

How can international skills competitions help attract young talent and support their personal and professional development, and strengthen companies’ employer branding? These were the key questions explored in our recent Voltage webinar, organised jointly by e-mobil BW GmbH and WorldSkills Germany as part of the Voltage project.

International skills competitions such as EuroSkills – the European Championship of Young Professionals – give apprentices the opportunity to measure their skills against the best young talents from across Europe. At the same time, skills competitions offer companies a unique way to identify and promote talent early on, while positioning themselves as attractive training providers and employers.

The webinar highlighted how competitions such as EuroSkills and WorldSkills can make vocational excellence more visible and create added value for apprentices, companies and vocational education institutions alike. Participants gained insights into the structure of international skills competitions, the pathway from local and national levels to the European stage, and the many ways in which young people, companies and education providers can get involved.

A special focus was placed on EuroSkills 2027, which will take place in Düsseldorf. This creates a concrete and timely opportunity for companies and apprentices to prepare early, identify promising talents and actively engage with the competition in the years leading up to the event.

We were delighted to welcome a strong line-up of speakers: Isabell Gradinger and Stephanie Werth from WorldSkills Germany, Stefan Mißbach, gold medallist at the WorldSkills 2022 Special Edition in Automotive Technology, national coach Almut Leykauff-Bothe, and Stephan Boos from HAHN Automation Group. Their contributions combined strategic perspectives with hands-on experience from competition, coaching and industry practice, offering valuable insights into the benefits of participation for individuals, companies and training organisations.
