Teachers and Trainers Gathered in Vaasa

On 2–3 June, we welcomed teachers and trainers from all partner countries to Vaasa, Finland, for the second edition of the project’s Train-the-Trainer programme. The event brought together vocational education professionals from across Europe to strengthen their knowledge and skills within key areas of the rapidly growing battery and energy sectors.

The training was hosted and delivered by VAMIA – Vaasa Vocational Institute, one of the Finnish partners. Through a combination of expert-led sessions, practical demonstrations and peer learning activities, participants gained valuable insights into technologies and competencies that are increasingly important for the future workforce of the battery industry.

The two-day programme focused on several important topics shaping the future of sustainable energy and battery technologies. Participants explored electronics, solar energy systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical perspectives that can be integrated into vocational education programmes across Europe.

A central objective of the project is to enhance the capacity of vocational education and training providers to deliver high-quality, industry-relevant education that meets the evolving needs of the European battery industry. By investing in the professional development of teachers and trainers, the project helps ensure that future generations of students are equipped with the skills required for the green and digital transition.

Beyond the technical content, the event also offered valuable opportunities for international collaboration and knowledge exchange. Participants shared experiences, discussed educational challenges and opportunities, and explored ways to strengthen cooperation between regions and countries.

The programme also included a visit to Janne’s Saloon in the Vaasa archipelago, where participants experienced a traditional Finnish sauna evening. The informal setting provided an excellent opportunity to continue discussions, build relationships, and strengthen the European network that is at the heart of Voltage.

The consortium would like to extend its sincere thanks to VAMIA and the Finnish partners for their warm hospitality, excellent organisation, and inspiring training programme. The successful event in Vaasa marks another important step towards building a strong European community of educators and trainers who are helping to shape the future workforce of the battery industry.
